Bejewelled Blooms
Flowers are one of the most enduring emblems in jewellery. It is also indisputable that some of the earliest pieces of adornment, would have been garlands of flowers woven into hair and strung around the neck and wrist.
Bejewelled blooms became particularly popular in the Victorian Era, when Queen Victoria's romance with Prince Albert was celebrated with floriography, the language of flowers. It is well known that her great great great grandson, King Charles III, is devoted to gardens - he turned the land at his country retreat Highgrove, into a series of gorgeous gardens and is now doing so at his recently inherited royal palaces.
So to celebrate Spring and the Coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort, I have chosen some of the most beautiful bejewelled florals (and a few butterflies and a ladybird) from both the latest Couture Collections in Paris and London's Fine Jewellery boutiques.
